A veteran of the legendary outsider gallery Rubbish, this painter has been on the scene for a while. But in the past year, I’ve seen Beckstrom’s storytelling, visual language and basic technique ripen into something considerably more moving, curious and resonant than something simply destined to hang over the couch.
