It's a go for Labor Day balloon liftoff!
The first wave of balloons lifted off shortly before 7 a.m. at Memorial Park this Labor Day morning as the Colorado Balloon Classic wrapped up its 35th year.
Monday's launch makes two in a row after Sunday's liftoff and a disappointing Saturday that brought high winds with dawn, grounding hot air balloons.
Check back here for photos later this morning from Monday's launch.
Pilots got the thumbs-up to fly and took to the skies as the sun rose on a chilly Monday morning.
Dozens of colorful balloons lifted off from the park near downtown Colorado Springs, prompting cheers from bystanders and the clicks of hundreds, if not thousands, of cameras and cell phones.
There are about 60 balloons participating in this year's festival.
