AROUND TOWN: Senior Resource Council Dinner Dance
One annual holiday dinner dance is such a treat it inspires people to ask to RSVP a year in advance.
The ninth annual Senior Resource Council Holiday Dinner Dance Nov. 19 lived up to its popularity, drawing a capacity 520 party-hearty seniors ages 65 or older.
The entire evening was complimentary, sponsored by area businesses and agencies.
Music by the Pikes Peak New Horizons Band had people on the dance floor at the City Auditorium even before they ate dinner. They would probably have danced through dinner if the band hadn’t taken an intermission.
Chef Patrick Robinson, familiar from his years at the Steaksmith, had the kitchen hopping as he succeeded in his promise of serving all 520 dinners in 15 minutes, bringing high fives all around from the large corps of red-clad volunteers and board members.
Cadets from the Air Force Academy and Boy Scouts put on their dancing shoes as partners for the women, enjoying both dance and conversation.
