Man in Denver jail accused of stealing Tim Allen's Chevy Impala

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

DENVER — A man accused of stealing one of comedian Tim Allen's cars is in a Denver jail awaiting extradition to Los Angeles.

Thirty-four-year-old Faustino Ibarra was being held without bond on Monday. Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson said Ibarra was arrested Saturday after someone reported a stolen car. Police confirmed that the customized 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS belonged to the "Home Improvement" star but it hadn't yet been reported stolen when it turned up in Denver.

In an interview with KDVR-TV (http://bit.ly/TpJirK ) in jail, Ibarra claimed that Allen adopted him years ago. He said that Allen left the door to his garage open along with the keys so he could drive it to Denver.

On his website, Allen says his Impala has a 32-valve, 446-horsepower Corvette ZR1 engine.
