Best of the Springs 2012: Diner
Gold: King’s Chef Diner
110 E. Costilla St., 634-9135, and 131 E. Bijou St., 636-5010, kingschefdiner.com
This local favorite has gotten national attention for its enormously portioned and incredibly tasty diner offerings. The breakfast burrito got attention from the Food Network in 2010, which called it a “fiery torpedo loaded with eggs, grilled onions, hash browns and sausage.” But The Thing, which features pretty much everything in the kitchen drowning beneath green chili sauce, and The Grump, (hash browns, ham, grilled onions, cheese, more hash browns, all smothered in gravy and cheese), are just as worthy.
Silver: Village Inn
Bronze: Gunther Toody’s
