KOAA hires replacement for Lee Douglas
KOAA-TV recently announced the appointment of Eric Naktin to the position of sports director/sports anchor, filling the position left vacant earlier this year when mainstay Lee Douglas died.
“It’s an honor and privilege to carry the torch after legendary Lee Douglas,” said Naktin. “In addition to covering the professional teams Southern Colorado is passionate about, I’m looking forward to sharing the accomplishments of local athletes to News 5 viewers.”

Naktin, who will begin his new role at KOAA on June 25, comes to the station from ABC affiliate KRCR in Redding, California, where he was the sports director. Before that, he was sports director in Idaho Falls, ID. An experienced journalist, Naktin’s reports have been featured nationally on CNN and ABCNews.com.
“No one will ever completely fill Lee’s role in our newsroom and community,” added news director Michael Langley. “But Eric possesses the same love of athletic achievement and desire to evolve local sports coverage that viewers expect from KOAA. He will tell moving stories about our professional teams, collegiate champions, and of course, the young athletes right in our own backyards.”
