World's best fast-food burger moving to the Springs
Larkburger is coming to The Broadmoor Towne Center.
If you've never eaten at Larksburger, a Colorado chain, you probably don't know what a big deal this is. But trust me when I tell you that once you eat here, you'll forget all many of the competitors.
This thing was started by Thomas Salamunovich, the executive chef at the upscale Larkspur Restaurant in Vail, and he was legendary, not only for his steak and seafood but also his all-natural gourmet burger.
So Salamunovich decided to open a fast-food joint, but kicked up about five notches. We're talking truffle oil topped burgers with soy beans on the side. I visited his first location in Edwards four years go. My family of four dropped about $40, the most we've ever spent to eat on a plastic tray. But, man, was it worth it.
The restaurants are as much models of sustainability as they are models of gourmet tastes.
They use canola oil as fuel, stick to all-natural food ingredients, all the napkins, plates and utensils are biodegradeable, and the store is powered by wind farms.
Besides Edwards, Larkburger also is in Denver, Boulder and Fort Collins.
Officials at Larkburger say they don't have an opening date here. Stay on ColoradoSprings.com for updates.
