Van Gogh's 'Grass and Butterflies'

JENNIFER'S PICK: 'Becoming Van Gogh'

jen.mulson@gazette.com

I filled my cultural well at the "Becoming Van Gogh" exhibit at the Denver Art Museum last weekend. It was gorgeous. Granted, some of his most famous pieces aren't in the show, like "The Starry Night" or "Starry Night Over the Rhone," but there are still more than 70 works on display. The progression of the largely self-taught artist's skill through the years is stunning and inspirational. His work glows - I had to do a quick check for lighting. The exhibit is up through Jan. 20, and reservations are highly recommended. It's $11-$25/free ages 5 and younger. I also recommend purchasing the audio guide with a headset for $3/free for museum members, 100 W. 14th Ave. Parkway. Details: 1-720-865-5000 or denverartmuseum.org.
