AROUND TOWN: Peak Producers' holiday celebration
They’re the Peak Producers, the top 10 percent of real estate agents in the region. Put them together as a team and they’ve found important ways to give back to the community.
This year, Peak Producers has supported two families from Catholic Charities and Marian House: a single mother with two daughters, and a family with nine children living in a two-bedroom apartment.
Members were updated by board members Barry Boals and Bill McAfee at the group’s holiday party Dec. 6 at The Carter Payne Event Center, where they heard from single mom Amanda.
Newly divorced, Amanda was on the verge of losing her home and her vehicle when Catholic Charities and Peak Partners were there for her. Then, just as things were going smoothly, noxious odors in the building where she worked forced it to be shut down for weeks. There was help available for Amanda once again while she couldn’t go to work.
The group’s first project was during the inaugural year 2010, when Peak Producers supported “Keep Colorado Springs Beautiful” as the homeless tent cities along area creeks were relocated and the sites cleaned up. Volunteers in bright green shirts also helped clean up medians and highway shoulders.
Serving on the Peak Producers board along with Boals and McAfee are Jeff Piggot, Ron Allen, Peggy Carmack, Barbara Harris, Cherise Selley and Derek Wagner.
Sitting as the group’s Advisory Board: Jay Gupta, Jeanette Lucero, Shelley LaJudice, John Cordasco, Matt Ramirez and Tim Duvall.
