AROUND TOWN: 2012 Debutantes presented

The Broadmoor International Center shimmers with brilliant white, vivid black and holiday reds and greens each Dec. 22 as young women are presented to society with a curtsy in an age-old tradition. This was the 46th annual Colorado Springs Debutante Ball and monies raised benefit the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center.

The 28 women selected, all college freshmen, walked down the red carpet to the receiving line on the arms of their formally attired fathers as they were announced by Dr. Patrick Owen Faricy. All were chosen for their contributions to the community, their charity work and the community contributions of their families.

Debutante Elaine Katherine O’Neal did not participate in the formal presentation because of the death of her father a week earlier.

The 2012 debutantes and their colleges:

       Ann Frances Adams is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Schroder Adams of Colorado Springs and the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. Bernard Schroder Adams of Colorado Springs and the late Dr. George Derry Beach and the late Ann Maxey Babb.  She attends Davidson College.

           Taylor Karyn Addy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Ellis Addy of Colorado Springs and the granddaughter of  Eldon Heath Addy of Wichitaand the late Dorothy Rumbeck Addy and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bernard McKinnie.  She attends Texas Christian University.

             Heather Hunt Black is the daughter of retired Col. Norman Albert Black, III, and retired Capt. Kathleen Laura Black, of Colorado Springs and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Norman Albert Black, Jr., and retired Lt. Col. Richard Churchill Bender of Carlsbad, Calif. and Alexandra Holt Kellerman of Hot Springs Village, Ark.  She attends Loras College.

           Adrianna James Carmichael is the daughter of Jon Christian Carmichael and Perrin James Cunningham of Colorado Springs and the granddaughter of the late Dr. Lynn Paul Carmichael and Dr. Joan Steinlicht Carmichael of Tucson, Benjamin Hutton Cunningham, Jr., of Winter Park, Fla., and Josephine James Cunningham of Wayzata, Minn.  She attends Goucher College.

           Katharine Grace Connaughton is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Paul Vincent Connaughton of Colorado Springs and the granddaughter of the late Dr. James Lawrence Connaughton and Monica Teresa Connaughton of Baltimore and the late Dr. Frederic Charles Feiler and Virginia Tatum Feiler of Colorado Springs.  She attends Wake Forest University.

         Bailey Elizabeth Crumpton is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Kevin Lynn Crumpton of Colorado Springs and the granddaughter of Herb Lynn Crumpton of Texarkana, Ark., and  Sharon Silcott Crumpton of Colorado Springs, and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Arnold Strasheim of Colorado Springs.  She attends the University of Colorado at Boulder.

          Amelia Elizabeth Evans is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Douglas Brian Evans of Colorado Springsand the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Harold Evans and the late Gerald Francis O'Connell and  Elizabeth Julie O'Connell of Centerville, Ohio. She attends Gonzaga University.

             Elizabeth Jayne Guy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Michael Guy of Monument and the granddaughter of Arthur Francis Guy, Jr., of Lakewood and the late  Patricia Marie Guy and the late Mr. and Mrs. Allen Frank Chew. She attends Susquehanna University.

             Emily Patricia Guy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Michael Guy of Monument and is the granddaughter of Arthur Francis Guy, Junior, of Lakewood and the late Patricia Marie Guy and the late Mr. and Mrs. Allen Frank Chew.  She attends Hillsdale College.

           Elizabeth Renee Harrison is the daughter of retired Lt. Col. and Mrs. Scott Carpenter Harrison of Colorado Springs and the granddaughter of the late  Robert Alexander Harrison and Allen Bartlit Church of Albuquerque and the late Carolyn Clarke Church.  She attends Texas Christian University.

           Hannah Jean Huffman is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Weldon Huffman and the granddaughter of the late Weldon Keith Huffman and  Bobbie Bell Huffman of Austin, Texas, and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Joe Bristol of Colorado Springs. She attends the University of Denver.

             Anne Elizabeth Lewis is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Ray Lewis of Colorado Springs and the granddaughter of the late Donald Eugene Lewis and Fern Maxcine Shetterly of Kendall, Kansas, and the late Don Smith Packer and Alice Hazel Packer of Dallas.  She attends the University of Kansas.

           Kathryn Lee Louthan is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin David Louthan of Colorado Springs and the granddaughter of the late Richard Allen Louthan and Brenda Libby Louthan of Eugene, Ore., and Mr. and Mrs. Merton Henry Hull of Colorado Springs.  She  attends Colorado Christian University in Denver.

           Morgan Elizabeth McBroom is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Edward McBroom of Colorado Springs and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Edward McBroom of Fairhope, Ala., and the late  Louis Albin Pejza and Doris Laverne Pejza of Colorado Springs.  She attends Azusa Pacific University.

             Morgan Jane McCurdy is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. James Richard McCurdy, II, and the granddaughter of Dr. James Richard McCurdy, I, of Goldsby, Okla., and Virginia Sharon Tolton of Colorado Springs and Dr. and Mrs. Charles Thomas Morgan of Tahlequah, Okla.  She attends the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Kurstyn Elizabeth Morley is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Frederick Morley of Colorado Springs and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Dickison Morley and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Kingdon Foster of Colorado Springs.  Kurstyn She attends Wake Forest University.
    

Elaine Katherine O'Neal is the daughter of the late Dr. Kelly Donald O'Neal and Katherine Pebley O’Neal of Colorado Springs and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Donald O'Neal and the late Franklin Jardine Pebley and Nancy Lorene Pebley of Colorado Springs.  She attends Texas Christian University. Her father, a dentist and pilot, died Dec. 14 in a plane crash in Amarillo, Texas.

Abigail Ann Pearson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Howard Pearson of Colorado Springs and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Edward Pearson of Ivy, Va.,  and the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Eugene Lovejoy.  Abigail She attends Colorado State University.

 Sarah Constance Quirk is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Edward Quirk, III, of Colorado Springs and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Edward Quirk, Jr., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hugh Douglass. She attends American University, Washington, DC.

Tori Mariah Reifschneider is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Scott Reifschneider of Colorado Springsand the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Phillip Reifschneider of Locust Grove, Ga., and the late Henry Clifton Lakey and  Karen Lee Spurgin of Oklahoma City.  She attends the University of Denver.

 Jadyn Marie Rickert is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tim Edward Rickert of Colorado Springs and the granddaughter of  Robert Paul Rickert of Phoenix and the late Beatrice Ann Rickert and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Victor Ciganek of Pueblo West.  She  attends Creighton University.

Amber Rose Ruiz is the daughter of the late Richard Yvan Ruiz and Caroline Kostelecky of Colorado Springsand the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lucien Ruiz of Lyon, France, and the late Dr. Georges Leon Elbaz and Caroline Rose Childers of Colorado Springs.  She attends the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.

 Karina Anne Simon is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Andrew Simon of Colorado Springs and the granddaughter of the late Rugby Simon and Marlene Raquel Simon of Orlando, Fla., and Dr. and Mrs. Fred Arthur Bremner of Lake Oswego, Ore.  She attends Santa Clara University.

 Kelly Anne Stockelman is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Richard Edward Stockelman of Colorado Springsand the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Raymond Stockelman and Mr. and Mrs. James Lawrence O'Connell of Dayton, Ohio.  She attends Xavier University.

Kristen Mary Ann Sullivan is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Lee Sullivan of Colorado Springs and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Finley Sullivan of Lincoln, Neb., and  Klayton Dean Johnson of Scottsbluff, Neb., and the late Dolores Mary Ann Johnson.  She attends the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Yvonne Wetzig is the daughter of Dr. Richard Paul Wetzig and Mrs. Melissa Baird Wetzig of Colorado Springs and the granddaughter of the late Dr. Paul Carl Wetzig and Doreen Wetzig of Colorado Springs and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Van Dorn Baird.  She attends University of Puget Sound.

Elisa Marie Wilson is the daughter of Dr. Robert Louis Wilson of Colorado Springs and Linda Jean Conway of Colorado Springs and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Herbert Wilson, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Francis Mendick of Omaha, Neb.  She attends Gonzaga University.

Katie Lyn Zezula is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Martin Zezula of Colorado Springs and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Edward Zezula and Mr. and Mrs. John Elmer Atnip of Grand Junction.  She attends Johnson and Wales University.
