Elizabeth Smart has Springs speaking engagement

Abuse survivor Elizabeth Smart will talk about her abduction and imprisonment by homeless preacher Brian David Mitchell as the keynote speaker for the Safe Passage annual fundraising gala March 10 at Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Smart was kidnapped from her home in 2002 when she was 14. She’s a music student at Brigham Young University and has plans to become an attorney and work with crime victims.

Safe Passage does forensic interviews of young victims of abuse.

Reservations for the dinner will be available after Jan. 1 at safepassagecac.org.

The benefit, which has a different costume and decorations focus each year, has an Egyptian passage down the Nile theme.
