'Tasty Tunes:' A Night of Music and Desserts at Venue 515 Saturday

On Saturday, September 11th, from 7:00-9:00 p.m., the local student-run promotions company C. Sheily Entertainment will host “Tasty Tunes,” a night of Manitou Springs’ most delicious desserts and best folk alternative sound. Attendees will arrive to an array of scrumptious goodies and then be serenaded by the soothing sound of popular local musician Megan LeFurge. This event is perfect for a girl’s night out, a date night, or even to just satisfy your sweet tooth.

Tasty Tunes will be catered by Mama Tina’s Catering. Tickets cost $15.00 or $20.00 with wine (2 glasses included). Buy tickets online at www.thebac.org, in person at the Canvas Café located in Venue 515 at 515 Manitou Avenue from 11:00 am-5:00 pm Tuesday-Saturday, or at the door.

Megan LeFurge:
A product of many artistic disciplines, Megan is a self-proclaimed "wordsmith who likes to sing." She's always loved music and secretly wished to perform her own music, but for many years from grade school until high school she was content with performing within a group setting with her church and schools choirs and symphonic bands (where she played flute). It wasn't until her early college years where she found the confidence to embrace the singular and vulnerable spotlight and she, literally, found her voice through jazz music.

Although she's just now sinking her teeth into aggressive and professional music making, she's already won awards for excellence in music, including an award by Dr. Glen Whitehead, director of music at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, for Excellence in Music for the graduating class of 2010. The Visual and Performing Arts department at UCCS later awarded her the Excellence in VAPA award.

With a curiosity cultivated by the world's folk music and a voice developed by jazz stylings and techniques, Megan composes melodic poems to aid her in solving life's mysteries. Her songs have an alt-folk simplicity to them, and her voice is incredibly strong, yet poised and graceful.
