Colorado Springs, CO (December 6, 2012)…Born and raised in Colorado Springs, Tony award-winning actor Josh Franklin is back in town for the holidays to celebrate his roots, perform for his community and preview his debut CD of original music.
Franklin, a graduate of Doherty High School, was one of the first students to attend The Colorado Springs Conservatory 18 years ago. “I cleaned the toilets at the school to pay for voice lessons,” Franklin recollects. Franklin credits The Conservatory for his subsequent education at Webster Conservatory and illustrious Broadway career.
He has been seen in such Broadway productions as Ghost, Anything Goes, Jersey Boys, Grease and Legally Blonde. T.V. appearances include the shows Gossip Girl, A Capitol Fourth (with Barry Manilow and Aretha Franklin), and the Tony Awards (2007/2011).
In celebration of his homecoming, The Conservatory will present Home for the Holidays, a special musical event, on Wednesday, December 19 in the Grand Ballroom of The Mining Exchange Hotel beginning at 7 PM. The evening, presented in a casual living-room setting, includes:
-
A concert featuring Josh Franklin and fellow Conservatory alumni David Seigel (El Pomar Fellow) and CC Wells (Webster University student) and other special guests;
-
CD launch party during which Franklin will discuss the genesis of the project and preview cuts from his CD Last Resort (working title), scheduled for release in February 2013.
The event is open to the public and tickets are available at www.csconservatory.org.
