ANITA'S PICK: Typhoon
A steady repeat on my iPod since "Summer Home" was released on the EP "A New Kind of House" in 2011, Typhoon is looking to impress again with their new album "Hunger and Thirst." The indie acoustic jam band incorporates sweet blues rhythms on many tracks and reminds me of Wilco on antidepressants. Picking apart instruments on their songs keeps me bouncing between bold brass trumpets, layered harmonies and a tickling banjo -- among other sounds I can't even begin to define. Is that a zither I hear? This Portland-based band, which travels with an eclectic 10-plus member lineup, plays 8 p.m. Saturday at a new local venue, The Carter Payne, 320 S. Weber St. Laura Gibson and Lost Lander will take the stage first. Details: $14, $10 for KRCC members; 473-4801, radiocoloradocollege.org/category/krcc-concerts.
