THE GAZETTE
“Paranormal Activity” (2009) — Like every “found-camera” flick, from “The Blair Witch Project” to “Cloverfield,” “Paranormal Activity” can’t find a satisfying way out. The endings of these movies always stink. But the creep factor in this simple story about a young couple trying to capture their live-in poltergeist on video is so high, it’s worth the necessary disappointment.
There’s something so scary about a time-lapsed video showing a couple sleeping at 1:47 a.m., 3:35 a.m. … and nothing happens, until, at 3:36, when … well, I won’t ruin it for you anymore than I already have.
