MEDIA BUZZ: KILO Rocks Latest Colorado Springs Radio Ratings
More listeners are rocking out to KILO (94.3 FM) than any other radio station in Colorado Springs. In fact, it was almost a clean sweep as KILO finished first in nearly every major demographic according to the fall radio ratings released last week by Arbitron.
KILO topped adults 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, and was also first in the adults 12 and older and 18 and older categories.
“This is really exciting for KILO as it starts its 34th year,” said KILO GM Lou Mellini. “We’ve again maintained a No. 1 position. It’s a tribute to Ross Ford and his staff.”
KILO has plenty to brag about, but several other radio stations also had impressive showings.
KKFM’s (98.1 FM) airing of the syndicated “Bob & Tom Show” helped the station be the number one choice for listeners ages 25-54 in the key 6a.m.-10a.m. early morning time slot. Cumulus Media landed several other stations in the top three as well, with KKMG (98.9 FM) placing second with listeners 18-34 and KKPK (92.9 FM) second in 18-plus. KKPK also had a top three finish in the 12-plus category and tied for second with KKFM (98.1 FM) with adults 25-54.
Clear Channel’s KCCY (96.9 FM) remains the area’s most popular country station, finishing tied for first with adults 12 and older in the important 6a.m.-10a.m. hours with KILO. KCCY also tied for second in the 12-plus overall demographic and for third in 18-plus. KKLI (106.3 FM) increased its share in several areas, finishing in the top three in the 12-plus and 18-plus categories.
Glynn Alan, Clear Channel’s regional market manager, was pleased with his stations results. “We had fantastic momentum with our stations in the fall book. I'm proud of our world class talent and excited to hear them thrive in 2012!”
