Pikes Peak Heritage Center
Cripple Creek is much more than a gambling town, but people who never look away from the slot machines may never know that. So the town's movers and shakers decided to give visitors of all types, especially families, a thorough introduction to the area. Inside the Pikes Peak Heritage Center at Cripple Creek, 9283 S. Highway 67, visitors will find everything they need to know about the mining district.

How the Doll House got its name and other tales of lodging monikers
There can't be very many places where you could sleep in a former hospital or a former high school. But in Cripple Creek, you can. Beyond the casinos on Bennett Avenue, you'll fi nd lodging that ranges from tiny B&Bs to multi-story modern Victorians. Many have names that evoke the area's history and landscape.

Go for the gold
Gold mining hit its heyday at the turn of the 20th century in Colorado, and Teller County was at the forefront. During the height of the Colorado gold rush, the mines in Cripple Creek and Victor produced about 21 million ounces of gold, and the mining district was home to more than 50,000 people.
