Classical music lovers might want to plan an extended vacation to Boulder for the Colorado Music Festival at Chautauqua Auditorium. Summer is rife with libation-themed festivals. This weekend you can partake in unlimited craft beer, cider, wine and liquor samples at Wild West Fermentation Fest in Glenwood Springs. Maybe it was a wise decision to hold The Freedom Float down the Arkansas River the day after the beer festival portion of Rapids & Grass Beer Festival in Buena Vista. Friday night is a welcome party, free live music and after party with the band Rapidgrass. Saturday offers unlimited beer samples from more than 45 breweries to the sound of live music and an after party with DJ Logic. On Sunday, exhausted festival-goers can float down 7 miles of the Arkansas and land at the Riverside Grill for food and drinks. An after party features music by jam band Leftover Salmon. If one sprig of lavender smells so good, imagine what it might feel like to sniff out endless fields of the flowering plant. The Colorado Lavender Festival in Palisade offers that very thing Friday through Sunday. Friday offers a selection of motor coach tours of lavender farms. Saturday is festival day in Veterans Memorial Park with educational seminars, demonstrations and artisan products.
